Andy Burnham MP, Labour’s Shadow Health Secretary, responding to reports of confusion over whether Ebola screening is voluntary or not said:

“It is worrying that, just one day after Jeremy Hunt’s statement to the House of Commons, there is yet more confusion over the Government’s plans for screening for Ebola.

“The fact that nobody in Government seems to know whether the screening is voluntary or not will not build public confidence in the Government’s handling of this situation.

“The Government urgently needs to clarify its policy on screening to reassure the public that it has a grip.”​
