Jonathan Reynolds MP, Labour’s Shadow Minister for Energy and Climate Change, commenting on the IPCC report on climate change, said:
“This report provides overwhelming and compelling scientific evidence that climate change is happening, is caused by human activity and will have a devastating impact if urgent action is not taken to reduce our carbon emissions. It highlights the need for a global, legally binding treaty to cut carbon emissions at the Paris Conference in 2015.
“While David Cameron’s Government have argued that we can’t afford to take action on climate change, this report shows that we can’t afford not to.
“That’s why the next Labour Government will make the UK a leader in the green economy, providing one million new jobs by 2025, set a decarbonisation target for the power sector for 2030, unshackle the Green Investment Bank and reverse the decline in investment in clean energy that we have seen under David Cameron.”
