Comment on the CQC warning over GP appointments
Jamie Reed MP, Labour’s Shadow Health Minister, commenting on the CQC warning over GP appointments said:
“David Cameron can no longer deny it has become harder to get a GP appointment under his Government.
"There are hundreds of fewer GPs, practices are on a financial knife edge and many now close earlier. One in four patients waits a week or more to see their family doctor - proof the Tories can’t be trusted with the NHS.
"Failure to get an appointment is forcing people to turn to A&E and they’re becoming overwhelmed. That’s why the next Labour Government will guarantee GP appointments within 48 hours to end this scandal.”
