Pat McFadden MP, Labour’s Shadow Europe Minister, commenting on the EU’s decision to impose additional travel bans on Ukrainian separatists, said:
“Labour has been clear that the EU must show itself willing to steadily increase the costs and the consequences for Russia if it continues its aggression towards Ukraine and further undermines Ukraine’s territorial integrity.
“Despite widespread international condemnation at the G20 summit this weekend, President Putin has failed to abide by September’s Minsk ceasefire agreement, and reports that Russian military equipment has crossed into Eastern Ukraine are a serious and worrying development.
“Labour has called on the UK Government to push for EU-wide agreement on imposing further sanctions against Russia, including enhancing Tier Three sanctions.
“Europe must continue to show the strength of resolve that has been shown in recent months.”
