Today’s High Court hearing is another example why the cruel and unfair Bedroom Tax must be scrapped now - Reeves

Rachel Reeves MP, Labour’s Shadow Work and Pensions Secretary, speaking ahead of the High Court hearing on the Bedroom Tax applying to safe rooms, said,

“Today’s High Court hearing is another example why the cruel and unfair Bedroom Tax must be scrapped now. It’s appalling that the Government are forcing the victims of domestic violence to pay the Bedroom Tax because they have ‘safe rooms’ in their homes.

‘In April Labour tried to stop  victims of domestic violence who have safe rooms being forced to pay the Bedroom Tax but David Cameron and Iain Duncan Smith refused to do the right thing and support our bill.  If the Government won’t scrap this cruel tax, then Labour will.”
