Luciana Berger MP, Labour’s Shadow Health Minister, responding to the McKinsey Global Institute report on obesity, said:
“Obesity is costing our NHS and our economy billions of pounds, yet this Tory-led government is still relying solely on a flimsy, non-binding voluntary deal with business to tackle it.
“We simply cannot afford to go on like this.
“Labour is not afraid to take the bold and action that this crisis urgently demands. This is why we are developing a range of strong proposals including plans to improve food labelling and limit the levels of sugar fat and salt in food marketed to children.”
