David Cameron didn't want to hear the truth about the impact of leaving the European Court of Human Rights - Sadiq Khan

Sadiq Khan MP, Labour’s Shadow Justice Secretary, commenting on Dominic Grieve’s warning over leaving the ECHR, said:

“David Cameron didn’t want to hear the truth about the impact of leaving the European Court of Human Rights and how the Tory Bill of Rights plans would affect people’s rights and undermine Britain’s international standing, so instead he sacked Dominic Grieve.

“But shooting the messenger doesn’t hide the fact that the Tory plans would water down the British people’s rights, leaving them weaker when taking on powerful vested interests and standing up to uncaring governments. The former Tory Attorney General has confirmed Britain’s moral authority on the world stage will be undermined if we do as David Cameron wants, strengthening the hand of those countries with more dubious records on human rights.”
