Government’s own review of new Personal Independence Payments shows Cameron’s government failing disabled people - Kate Green

Kate Green MP, Labour’s Shadow Minister for Disabled People, commenting on the Government’s independent report on Personal Independence Payments, said:

“Today the government’s own review of the new Personal Independence Payments (PIP) shows that David Cameron’s government is failing disabled people who try to access essential financial support, and that an overhaul of the claims process is required.

‘This damning report by Paul Gray has found Personal Independence Payments have been ‘disjointed’ and disabled people have experienced ‘delays and backlogs’. It’s another example of Tory Welfare Waste. Today’s figures show 282,000 people are stuck waiting to know if they’ll get any help. The Prime Minister must act urgently and cut the waste and delays at the DWP”.
