Commenting on George Osborne’s
repeated refusal to answer why he had prioritised hedge funds this morning,
shadow Exchequer Secretary Shabana Mahmood, said:
“George
Osborne and David Cameron don’t like to admit that their priority has been to
help a few at the top. But the Tories’ election campaign relies on the tens
of millions they have received from hedge funds, who have
been given a £145 million tax cut.
"Our country succeeds when working families succeed, but the Tories
don’t understand this and instead stand up only for a few.
"Labour is clear who we stand up for - we’ll reverse his hedge fund tax
cut to help scrap the bedroom tax and we’ll use the money raised from stamp
duty avoidance to invest in the NHS."
