Response to the murder of 21 Egyptians in Libya by ISIL-linked extremists - Douglas Alexander

Douglas Alexander MP, Labour’s Shadow Foreign Secretary, responding to the murder of 21 Egyptians in Libya by ISIL-linked extremists, said:

“I condemn unreservedly the barbaric murder of 21 Egyptian Coptic Christians by ISIL-linked extremists.

"Christians and other religious minorities continue to be particular targets of ISIL’s campaign of terror. These latest brutal acts of violence underline the importance of our efforts alongside our allies to counter the threat posed by ISIL in the region.

"We must also continue to support the UN-led process of establishing a national unity government in Libya, and push for a political resolution to the security challenges facing Libya today.”
