Rachel Reeves, Labour’s shadow work and pensions secretary, commenting on new analysis published by the TUC which has found one in five jobs pays less than the Living Wage, said: “The growth of low pay under David Cameron shows the Tory plan has failed millions of working families. Five years of the Tory low wage, low skill economy has left one in five workers paid less than the living wage, making life harder for millions of people who do the right thing, work hard and contribute.
‘The choice we face at the election in May couldn’t be clearer. Another five years of David Cameron’s failing plan with millions of working families paid below the Living Wage. Or Labour’s better plan to make work pay with help for businesses to create well paid and high skilled jobs and a rise in the minimum wage to £8 an hour.”
