Alison Seabeck MP, Labour’s Shadow Minister for Defence Procurement, commenting on the publication of the National Audit Office’s ‘Reforming Defence Acquisition’ report, said:

“This Tory-led Government’s failed Government-owned, contractor-operated (GoCo) model for DE&S has wasted millions of taxpayers’ pounds and has delayed vital structural reform of defence acquisition.

“Labour previously suggested bringing in outside expertise as a temporary, inexpensive solution to help raise skill levels in key areas in DE&S. It is crucial that Ministers ensure that the new structure of DE&S not only provides value for money but also genuinely improves acquisition.”
