As Grant Shapps' car crash interview showed, the Tories’ housing policies are in chaos - Reynolds

Emma Reynolds MP, Labour’s Shadow Housing Minister, responding to Grant Shapps’ interview with Dermot Murnaghan on the Tories’ housing policies, said:

“The Tories’ housing policies are in chaos. Grant Shapps, a former Housing Minister, couldn’t explain how the Government would deliver a key election pledge.

“No one will believe David Cameron’s promises on housing and home ownership. Under this Tory-led Government we’ve seen the lowest levels of house building in peacetime since the 1920s, home ownership is at a thirty year low and there’s a record number of young people living at home with their parents into their 20s and 30s.

“The only way to restore the dream of homeownership is build more homes and Labour has a plan to get at least 200,000 homes built a year by 2020.”
