Mary Creagh MP, Labour’s Shadow Development Secretary, responding to the Independent Commission for Aid Impact (ICAI) report ‘Review of UK Development Assistance for Security and Justice’, said:
“Security and justice is essential, particularly in fragile and post-conflict states but this report criticises the lack of financial and political sustainability of the Government’s work in this area.
“The report reveals that Ministers have no strategy and that NGOs with the local knowledge better to deliver programmes are being excluded in favour of private contractors.
“A Labour government would tackle these challenges through long-term partnerships with developing countries.”
