Responding to the problems over the “Pension Wise” helpline service, Rachel Reeves, Labour’s Shadow Work & Pensions Secretary said:

“With less than two weeks before the new pension freedoms come in it’s astonishing that the pension’s advice phone line is closed. 

“Ministers refusal to listen to warning after warning about inadequate preparations for Pensions Wise has left hundreds of thousands of savers exposed to pension scams and mis-selling. 

“The Government must urgently get a grip of Pensions Wise to ensure the introduction of new pension freedoms does not descend into chaos in two weeks’ time.”
