Dan Jarvis MP, Labour’s Shadow Justice Minister, commenting on the report on Rainsbrook Secure Training Centre published today by the Chief Inspector of Prisons, Ofsted, and the Care Quality Commission, said:

“This shocking report is a damning indictment of the mounting prisons crisis that has built up on David Cameron’s watch.

“The culture of violence, racism and even drug-taking among staff at Rainsbrook make a mockery of Ministers' claims to be delivering a ‘rehabilitation revolution’. There is little hope of young people being rehabilitated in these conditions and it’s public safety that will be put at risk as a result.

“Michael Gove needs to get a grip and ask serious questions about how this was ever allowed to happen.”
