Shabana Mahmood MP, Labour’s Shadow Chief Secretary to the Treasury, responding to a BBC story on tax avoidance, said:

“The Tory Government should be urgently tackling tax avoidance schemes such as this. But they failed to make tackling avoidance and evasion a priority in the Queen’s Speech. HMRC need the powers backed by a tough penalty regime so that they can clamp down.”
