David Hanson MP, Labour’s Shadow Immigration Minister, responding to David Cameron’s comments on the Migration Advisory Committee, said:
“Under this government net migration has reached near-record levels despite the Prime Minister’s personal promise to get it down. Broken promises erode trust.
“British businesses should be looking to employ people in the UK, so it’s good that the Government have finally listened to the calls we’ve made for years to use and promote British skills first. Indeed we called for companies employing skilled migrants to take on an apprentice, so it’s good to see David Cameron agrees with us.”
