Stephen Timms MP, Labour’s Shadow Work and Pensions Secretary, commenting on reports that young British people could lose the right to claim some benefits for four years in order to tighten the rules for EU migrants, said:

“We support restrictions on benefits for EU migrants. But the Government would find it hard to justify removing support from ordinary UK citizens simply because they have failed to deliver what they promised in their EU renegotiation.”
