Commenting on the news that four main Fifa backers have demanded Sepp Blatter resign, Clive Efford, Labour’s Shadow Sports Minister, said:

“Sepp Blatter must accept that his time is over now that FIFA’s key sponsors have finally insisted that he must go.

"The sponsors have stayed quiet throughout the corruption scandal, but it seems they are now deserting a sinking ship.

"They give a great deal of money in sponsorship to FIFA and hopefully this action will finally bring Sepp Blatter’s era to an end.”
