Kate Green MP, Labour’s Shadow Minister for Women and Equalities, responding to an Equality and Human Rights Commission report which says under-34s have seen steepest drops in pay and employment in the past five years, said:

“The EHRC report demonstrates the shocking gap opening up between young people and the rest of the population. It is a huge indictment of the Tory Government - their policies are effectively writing off the next generation.

“This is utterly unjust to young people and puts the future success of our county in jeopardy.

“It is no use the Tories talking up equality as a buzzword while so much of their policy agenda embeds and exacerbates the very inequalities they say they want to reduce.”
