Powell MP, Labour’s Shadow Education Secretary, commenting on the government’s plan
to review primary assessment Labour’s Shadow Education Secretary Lucy Powell MP
said:
“Ministers abandoned the levels system a year ago with no idea how to replace
it resulting in confusion and upheaval.
“Parents will be greatly concerned by the chaos in assessment in schools
brought about by the government’s education policy. They deserve to know
exactly how their child is performing at school – but under the Tories, this
constant chop and change is threatening standards, creating confusion for
parents and pupils year on year and adding extra bureaucracy for teachers.
"Ministers must urgently address the loss of confidence in our children’s
results.”
