Progress on addressing the gender pay gap has been painstakingly slow under this government - Green

Kate Green MP, Shadow Women & Equalities Minister, commenting on the ONS Annual Survey of Hours and Earnings released today showing there has been a lack of progress on closing the gender pay gap over the last four years under the Conservative Government, said:

“Progress on addressing the gender pay gap has been painstakingly slow under this government. The fact that only one Conservative MP could be bothered to speak at a Parliamentary debate this morning on women and low pay shows that this is an issue that the government must take far more seriously.

“We need a detailed, thought through strategy which includes addressing low pay in those sectors where women are most likely to work and action to deal with the shocking rise in pregnancy discrimination.”
