Kerry McCarthy MP, Labour’s Shadow Environment Secretary, commenting on the flooding to have hit Cumbria and other parts of the country, said: 

“Our thoughts are with the people in Cumbria and elsewhere in the country affected by these awful floods. The immediate priority should be to make sure people stay safe and warm. 

 We owe huge thanks to the Police, the fire service, the RNLI and all the other rescue services, providing vital support throughout this terrible weather.”
