Jack Dromey MP, Labour’s Shadow Policing Minister, responding to a Her Majesty’s Inspectorate of Constabulary review on so-called honour-based crime, said:
“There
is no honour in ‘honour’ based violence, there is never any excuse for violence
by a family against a relative. The perpetrators must be brought to justice and
the victims protected.
“It is therefore important that police are properly trained to work with victims and communities to prevent violence of this kind and support those who have been affected. I welcome the report’s recommendations and the commitment by the police to continue to improve their response to these devastating crimes.”
