Justin Madders MP, Labour’s Shadow Health Minister, responding to the PAC report on the CQC, said:
“This report raises alarming concerns about staffing levels and performance at the CQC.
"Patients need to have confidence that concerns will be acted upon quickly and comprehensively, and that clearly hasn’t always been the case in recent years.
"With the CQC facing budget cuts over the next few years there is a real risk it won’t have the resources it needs to carry out its vital work inspecting and regulating hospitals.
"Ministers must ensure that all of our health services have the money they need to ensure patients are receiving safe care. This is yet another example of the Tory Government consistently failing to resource the health service adequately.”
