After spending the last five years blaming Labour, the Tories have their own track record in Government, and on housing it’s five years of failure across the board - John Healey

John Healey MP, Labour’s Shadow Cabinet Minister for Housing and Planning, ahead of today’s opposition day debate in Parliament, released a new and updated set of figures demonstrating the Conservatives’ five years of failure on housing, said:

“After spending the last five years blaming Labour, the Tories have their own track record in government, and on housing it’s five years of failure across the board.

“Labour will hold Conservative Ministers to account for their record - higher homelessness, escalating rents, reduced investment, the lowest rate of home ownership in a generation, and fewer homes built than at any time since the 1920s.

“We urgently need a better plan to help people struggling with high housing costs, including building more genuinely affordable homes to rent and buy.”
