Our justice system relies on confidence of victims of crime and their courage in coming forward to report crimes & give evidence - Jo Stevens

Jo Stevens MP, Labour’s Shadow Prisons, Probation and Victims Minister, responding to warnings that the Association of Police and Crime Commissioners that victim services are at risk unless the Ministry of Justice confirms the funding, said -

“ Our justice system relies on the confidence of victims of crime and their courage in coming forward to report crimes and give evidence.

“So it is completely unacceptable that PCCs have been left in the dark about how much money they will have to support victims of crime and vulnerable people.

“For far too long victims have been taken for granted by this Government.  Ministers must now urgently confirm funding allocations and deliver the victims’ law that was promised in their manifesto.”
