John McDonnell MP, Labour’s Shadow Chancellor responding to the announcement that Google have reached an agreement on corporation tax with HMRC, said:

“We welcome Google reaching an agreement to pay additional tax. And it is a victory for those who have campaigned raising awareness of this issue.

"However, for other businesses around the country this is not a choice. And it is those companies that pay their fair share in taxes who have to shoulder the burden for those who do not.

"But for taxpayers to know whether or not they’re actually getting true value for money out of Google then George Osborne must transparently publish the full details of what HMRC believed they owed.”
