Luciana Berger MP, Shadow Minister for Mental Health, commenting on NSPCC survey which found that nine in ten professionals feel mental health services for abused children are inadequate, and more than three quarters say it has got more difficult in the last five years to access therapy, said:
“These shocking findings are a damning indictment of this Government’s record on children’s mental health.
"It is appalling that some of the most vulnerable and traumatised children in the country cannot access the support they need, and the situation is getting worse.
"Ministers claim to take mental health seriously but they have broken their promise on children’s mental health funding this year. Children are waiting too long for help and thresholds for support are too high. Warm words are not enough, we need urgent action now to tackle this growing crisis."
