Hilary Benn, Labour’s Shadow Foreign Secretary, commenting on the International Syria Support Group’s efforts to bring an end to hostilities in Syria, said:

“Far too many lives have already been lost in Syria and a ceasefire is urgently needed to put an end to the bloodshed and bring in humanitarian aid.

"This announcement is a welcome step forward but the test will be whether it actually happens on the ground and includes an end to Russia’s bombing of the Syrian moderate opposition.”
