Jeremy Corbyn and John McDonnell meet with Joseph Stiglitz to discuss economic issues

Today Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn MP and Shadow Chancellor John McDonnell MP, met with economist and member of Labour’s Economic Advisory Council, Joseph Stiglitz, to discuss current state of the global economy and potential Labour economic policy.

John McDonnell MP, Labour’s Shadow Chancellor, speaking afterwards, said:

“I am very grateful to have the advice and input of Professor Stiglitz when it comes to formulating Labour’s New Economics. It is not just the innovative approach that you get from a Nobel Prize winning economist, but also the years of experience Joseph brings from advising global institutions such as the World Bank and the UN, to successive governments in the USA. I am very much looking forward to our meeting next month.”

Speaking afterwards, Professor Joseph Stiglitz, said:

“It was great to meet up with John and Jeremy and to discuss the new economic ideas that they are looking into, and how we can address the challenges and problems that we face on both sides of the Atlantic. And I am very much looking forward to our talk on 2nd March.”
