Hilary Benn MP, Labour’s Shadow Foreign Secretary, commenting on Barack Obama’s plans to close the Guantanamo Bay detention facility, said:

“I welcome President Obama’s latest effort to persuade the United States Congress to uphold the rule of law, close Guantanamo Bay and repatriate those remaining individuals who have been held there for years without facing trial.”
