Angela Eagle MP, Labour’s Shadow First Secretary of State and Shadow Secretary of State for Business, Innovation and Skills, commenting on Dominic Raab’s admission today that British businesses exporting into the European single market would be subject to tariffs if Britain voted to leave the European Union, said:
“Dominic Raab has finally let the cat out of the bag. Those who are in favour of Britain leaving the European Union have finally come clean to businesses and workers about the real risks involved.
“A vote to leave is a vote for higher costs and tariffs for British-based exporters to access the largest single market in the world; whether that’s higher costs for our car manufacturers or for our world-leading service sectors.
“Labour is clear that British businesses and workers are better off in the European Union which helps deliver jobs, growth and investment.”
