There is now irresistible pressure on the Government to look at this issue again - Owen Smith

Labour’s Shadow Work and Pensions Secretary, Owen Smith, commenting on the Work and Pension Committee’s Interim Report on the State Pension Age, said:

“I welcome the decision by the Work and Pension Committee to invite the Government to make up for their mishandled changes to the state pension age.

“Despite claims to the contrary, it’s clear there are a range of options Ministers could, and should, be pursuing, including the option of early access to a lower state pension.

“There is now irresistible pressure on the Government to look at this issue again and to bring forward proposals to put this right.“
