Seema
Malhotra MP, Shadow Chief Secretary to the Treasury, commenting on the
Tory Governmen’s unfair Budget said:
“The Tory Government is in disarray over their unfair Budget.
“David Cameron was today forced to come to the Commons in place of his
Chancellor but he failed to clean up the mess. We’ve had no answer on how the
Tories plan to fill the £4.4 billion black hole left by their forced u-turn on
disability benefits, only vague promises of “no plans” to make further welfare
cuts. Given a record of unfairness which saw them raise VAT after promising
they had ‘no plans’ to do so, millions of people will be worrying about where
the axe will fall - who is going to be left to pick up the bill for George
Osborne’s mess?
“We’re truly in unprecedented times with Parliament set to vote tomorrow on a
Budget that doesn’t add up, a Government which won’t answer how it’s going to,
and a Chancellor who can’t or won’t defend this shambles of his own making.
“George Osborne needs to stop hiding behind the Prime Minister’s skirts and
come to Parliament tomorrow and set out exactly how he’s going to fill the
black hole at the heart of his disintegrating Budget.”
