Owen Smith MP, Labour’s Shadow Work and Pensions Secretary, commenting on news
that millions of workers will soon see an unexpected fall in their take home
pay as a result of changes to National Insurance pensions contributions,
said:
“This is yet another example of the Tories failing to be straight with
people about the impact of their pensions policy.
"They are always keen to trumpet any potential winners from pension
reforms, but the reality is that from next month millions of workers will get a
nasty surprise when they open their pay slips and see an unexpected drop in
take home pay.
"As the cross-party Work and Pensions Committee revealed just yesterday,
this Government has got serious shortcomings when it comes to communication on
pensions. Continued failure to address them is a serious dereliction of
duty."
