Vernon Coaker MP, Labour’s Shadow Northern Ireland Secretary, commenting on Nigel Lawson’s interview this morning on Marr, said:

“For weeks the leave campaign have been unable to tell us what would happen to the border between Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland.

“Now Nigel Lawson has  proposed reinstating border controls on leaving the EU. This would be an economic disaster for businesses on both sides of the border and would undermine the tremendous progress made over the last two decades.”
