Andy Burnham MP, Labour’s Shadow Home Secretary, responding to Theresa May’s confirmation that the Government will publish the budget for the Border Force this week, said:

“Since Labour first exposed the threat to the Border budget, it is clear the Government has been panicking and rapidly back-peddling.

“When she finally publishes the Budget, we expect Theresa May to have found a way of preventing cuts. That will be the right decision in light of security threats.

“Labour forced the Government into a U-turn on Police cuts and if we manage the same on Borders then I’m sure it’ll be widely welcomed by many people.”
