People with mental health problems cannot afford any more empty rhetoric from this Tory Government - Luciana Berger

Luciana Berger MP, Labour’s Shadow Cabinet Minister for Mental Health, responding to the report from NHS Providers and the Healthcare Financial Management Association (HFMA) which reveals that half of mental health service providers did not receive an increase in funding in 2015/16, said:

“This report confirms that this Tory Government have failed to deliver their pledge of increased funding for mental health services.

"At a time of rising demand, staffing shortages, and reports of widespread inadequate care, it is utterly appalling that half of mental health services did not receive the increase in their budgets they were promised.

"People with mental health problems cannot afford any more empty rhetoric from this Tory Government. Ministers must take urgent action to give mental health services the funding they are now owed and that they desperately need.”
