Charlie Falconer, Labour’s Shadow Lord Chancellor, commenting on the Public Accounts Committee report warnings that the criminal justice system is close to breaking point, said:
“This damning cross-party report is another stark warning of the chaos in our courts and the crisis in our criminal justice system as a consequence of Tory mismanagement.
“It is a real concern that witnesses and victims feel they have been treated inadequately during the legal process as a stretched and disjointed criminal justice system appears to be creaking at the seams.
“It is unacceptable that victims in some areas receive a worse standard of justice than others in different parts of the country. This must not be allowed to continue and should be immediately addressed in David Cameron’s upcoming court reforms. It’s time for the Tories to stop letting victims of crime down.”
