Heidi Alexander MP, Labour’s Shadow Health Secretary, commenting on the publication of the terms and conditions of the new junior doctors’ contract, said:

“The publication of the detail about the new junior doctors’ contract is welcome and hopefully a further step towards finding a negotiated settlement to this dispute. 

"A lot has been said about this contract but I hope each and every junior doctor will take the time to read it for themselves, think about the concessions made by Government since last autumn and then come to their own conclusions.

"They shouldn’t let anyone’s spin - from Ministers or anyone else - cloud their own judgement. They should do what they feel is right for their patients.”
