Maria Eagle MP, Labour’s Shadow Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport, commenting on the violent scenes in France following England’s Euro 2016 match with Russia, said:

“We condemn the disturbing and appalling scenes of violence in France. Those at fault should be prosecuted. 

"Reports that there are well-known groups of troublemakers are especially concerning, and should be given particular attention by the police and other authorities. 

"We also need to see the best possible cooperation between French and British police forces to identify and remove these individuals from what should be a festival of football, and not one of violence and fear.”
