Owen Smith, Shadow Work and Pensions Secretary, commenting on today’s ONS UK Labour Market statistics, said:
“It is welcome that there has been a fall in unemployment. However, under the Tories long term pay growth continues to be too sluggish, as our economy is over reliant on low paid insecure work.
“A vote to leave Europe next week however would make the situation far worse. Hundreds of thousands of jobs are at risk in the event of Britain voting to leave, while in contrast deciding to remain has the potential to create more than a million new British jobs by 2030.”
