New report shows delivery of major projects at risk under the Tories - Jonathan Ashworth

The Tories are turning inwards, too focused on their leadership contest and failing to address the massive challenges facing our economy and society.

A new report released today on the Government’s Major Projects Portfolio (GMPP) highlights how the progress on some of the Tory Government’s key projects is slipping.

Almost a third of the projects in the GMPP (32 per cent) are rated ‘red’ or ‘amber/red’. This compares with 18 per cent three years ago.

That means that for 44 major government projects successful delivery of the project either “appears to be unachievable” (red) or “is in doubt, with major risks or issues apparent in a number of key areas” (amber/red)

Commenting, Jonathan Ashworth MP, Minister without Portfolio, said:

“The Tories seem more interested in fighting amongst themselves at the moment than actually running the country.

“Key government projects are at risk but we simply don’t have the leadership we need to ensure they are delivered.

“As usual it is ordinary working people who will pay the price of the Tories’ failure.”
