Diane Abbott MP, Labour’s Shadow Secretary of State for Health, responding to the Government’s decision to delay the childhood obesity strategy for a third time, said:
“This Tory Government has failed yet again to keep its promises on health. They assured the public the strategy would be published in December 2015, then March, and a third deadline passed last week with no explanation until today.
“As these delays continue British children remain the most obese in Europe, with a third of 10 and 11 year olds in England overweight or obese.”
“We need real and urgent action from the Government on this important issue – not the dithering and delay we’ve seen so far.”
