Andy McDonald MP, Labour’s Shadow Transport Secretary, commenting on the RMT’s offer to Southern GTR on an agreement to suspend planned industrial action if the company matches Scotrail’s offer earlier this week, said:
“The latest developments in this dispute offer the chance to significantly improve both industrial relations and passenger services.
“The grounds for settling this dispute are clearly set out in the RMT’s letter to Charles Horton of GTR. It is now time for the company to relegate short term interests and prioritise passengers’ basic need for a safe and properly staffed rail service.
“The talks at ACAS later today must result in Southern GTR matching ScotRail’s offer and Chris Grayling should now add the Government’s voice to the calls on GTR to accept this constructive proposal.”
