Diane Abbott MP, Shadow Secretary of State for Health, responding to today’s figures on NHS England’s Combined Performance summary, said:
“It is absolutely clear from these figures that the NHS is not safe in Tory hands. Once again, the Government has failed to meet key standards and is putting patients at risk.
“It is completely unacceptable that tens of thousands of patients are waiting longer than four hours on trollies in our A&E departments, waiting lists are going up and people are not getting the urgent cancer treatment they desperately need.
“The Tory Government needs to get a grip on the crisis facing our health service, and I urge ministers to take swift action to make sure patients get the care they deserve”.
