The Tories are hell-bent on cutting parents out of picture when it comes to their children’s schooling - Angela Rayner

Angela Rayner MP, Labour’s Shadow Secretary of State for Education, commenting on the scrapping of parent governors, said:

“The Tories are hell-bent on cutting parents out of the picture when it comes to their children’s schooling. This move risks undermining parent engagement in their children’s education which will do nothing to help raise standards.

“It’s quite astonishing that this is what the Government are busying themselves with when we’re facing a teacher shortage crisis, soaring class sizes and falling school budgets.

“Parent governors are important and valued volunteers in our schools and should be celebrated not cut out.”
