Bill Esterson MP, Labour’s Shadow Minister for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy, commenting on the Government’s new Small Business Commissioner, said:

“This is another missed opportunity by the Tories. Labour has consistently called for action to help with late payment, which is a blight for many small firms across the UK. But this Commissioner lacks the teeth needed to deal with the problem. Labour will borrow from best practice in other countries to address chronic and endemic unfair payment practices in the UK.”
